Stephen DeLozier, MBA

Steve has spent his entire career dedicated to health care. He has 30 years experience operating, managing and developing freestanding and hospital based outpatient centers and physician practices and has launched over 60 start-ups.


Steve’s expertise in practice management led him to a consulting opportunity with a multi-specialty group in South Jersey in 1993 where he found a struggling practice with an urgent care division. He went on to develop a strategic plan for the group, who then hired him to manage their practice for the next five years. He completely reengineered the practice, overhauled the revenue cycle, implemented an EMR and turned around the operations to become the premier urgent care centers in Atlantic County.


Steve began his career as a pharmaceutical representative with Bristol Myers where he called on hospitals and physicians for a broad array of oral and injectable products.

During his early career, Steve met many physicians who were dissatisfied with hospital outpatient services and “wait times” and began developing outpatient centers to meet the need for better customer service, timely appointments and services for their patients. He worked to get his NASD license (National Association of Securities Dealers) and began setting up physician and hospital partnerships and joint ventures, aligning who would own these facilities and making the focus on customer service and patient satisfaction.


He went on to open dozens of outpatient radiology, sleep diagnostic, physical therapy and urgent care centers over his career, eventually managing, operating or consulting for several multi-site, multi-state centers including  Medical One Multispecialty Group and Urgent Care, Medical Resources, American Radiology Services (an affiliate of Johns Hopkins Medicine), MD-Sleep, Premier Urgent Care and MedExpress Urgent Care .


As an entrepreneur, Steve’s experience in strategic planning, business development, marketing, operations management, performance improvement, revenue cycle, and financial analysis have given him a unique set of skills to grow healthcare practices and facilities.


Steve’s passion is patient satisfaction and developing and growing urgent care centers.  He believes urgent care centers are especially positioned to play a critical role in the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and in managing patient populations and improving outcomes through the efficient use of resources. He has worked extensively with physicians groups and hospitals to help improve the efficiency of their operations, optimize revenue cycle, increase coverage to meet demand, engage physicians to align goals and utilize less costly services for minor emergencies.


He sees urgent care as the cornerstone in a successful accountable care organization (ACO) where patient’s needs are met in a timely fashion by a high quality, low cost provider, to ensure minimal system leakage and the efficient use of scarce resources delivering fast, affordable healthcare.


Steve has a BA in Psychology from West Chester University and an MBA in Health Care Management form Widener University.
